Karen is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 18 years of experience working within the NHS and privately. She is registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She provides clinical assessments and treatment to adults, children, and their families.
Karen has worked as the Trust-wide Lead for Psychological Services and Clinical Lead for Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services in the NHS, providing leadership and developing services. She has worked in a number of clinical settings including inpatient and community services, providing specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment, formulation and treatment to children, adolescents, adults and their families. She also offers training and is a BPS registered supervisor.
Her real passion is clinical work, and she now focuses her enthusiasm and energy on offering therapeutic interventions. Her knowledge and experience of child development and neurodiversity (e.g. ASD, ADHD) contribute to her work with adults, by providing a wider perspective to make sense of current struggles and adapt treatment approaches appropriately.
Karen’s approach is very collaborative, sharing her formulation and understanding of the difficulties with the client, following assessment and as they develop throughout the work. She focuses on putting the client’s needs first, adapting her approach to provide the best outcomes for the individual. She is trained in a number of therapeutic modalities and is able to offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Compassion Focused Therapy.
